Hello everyone, I apologize for dropping off the face of the earth D: I miss all you guys and I plan to become more active here again but things have been crazy for a long time. I guess some updates are in order.
First of all as you can see I finally took advantage of the fact that you can change your username now, so my outdated handle from 2006 is a thing of the past. Blame JROTCMuffin
for the new one, she made up stage names for us and dubbed me Undead Medic so it kind of stuck.
In August I moved from Colorado to Maryland to live with Geistlicher
since she's going to school in Washington DC and we can finally get our costume/art/craft/etc business going now that we live under the same roof. It's going pretty well considering how new we are and I hope to expand on the types of things I'm able to create. In addition to continuing making the skull costumes I'm also trying to work on a lot of projects such as sculptures and plushies and hats and clothing pieces, teaching myself how to knit, and I plan to employ woodburning and soldering in upcoming projects that I'm pretty excited about. I'm also going to start my own dermestid beetle colony to process bones more efficiently and make some things with those.
I'm still working on my comics as well, if slowly because of real life getting in the way. I haven't abandoned Blackbird (though I'm looking for a better name for it and the plot has been drastically revised) and I have a few more ideas in the works as well; namely a mystery/dark comedy involving a mortician, a serial killer and a journalist in the 1930's and a science fiction story involving commercial time travel.
So yeah, I'm still trying to adjust to my new life and things have been far too crazy for me to devote any serious time to my projects, but after my retail job hours go back to normal after the new year I will hopefully have some progress to show for it. So expect to see more activity in the near future!
Until then I hope you all have a great holiday and new year <3
My friend from back home, Zina Lahr (her website normallyodd.com/
) died in a hiking accident on November 20th. She was pretty much the physical manifestation of creativity and imagination and she did more artistically in her 23 years than I probably ever will in my life. I still can't get my head around the fact that she's dead but I intend to follow her example of actually doing everything she set out to do.
She and a friend had been working on a portfolio video a few weeks before she died that gives a pretty good idea of what she was like: vimeo.com/80973511
